Major car parking operator NCP, which runs sites across the county’s town centres, has fallen into administration.
Car parks across Kent, including County Square in Ashford and Coleman House in Maidstone, are among those at risk of closure.

The firm, which is one of the UK’s biggest operators, said it had been hit by a post-Covid dip in demand for parking, which has not yet recovered.
It had also been impacted by costs linked to long-term and inflexible leases on loss-making sites.
NCP currently operates two large car parks in County Square, Apsley Street, Ashford.
One has capacity for 583 spaces, of which 31 are disabled, and the other has 221 total bays.

The firm also runs a site out of Coleman House in Church Street, Maidstone, which has parking provision for 71 cars, and another in Trafalgar Street in Gillingham.
The latter has a total of 62 bays.
Some or all of the 340 NCP sites may be put up for sale as one of the options to secure its future. 682 jobs are also at risk.
Administrators said they will be assessing the viability of each location, and some car parks may need to be closed as a result.
In the meantime, all sites will remain open as usual, and staff will stay put while options for the business are considered.
