A BARGAIN SUV dubbed “Range Rover lookalike” has lost its crown of UK’s favourite Chinese car.
It has been overtaken by another budget family car from a sister company.

Jaecoo 7 was named Britain’s best-selling car after topping the new car sales charts twice in the first three months of 2026.
It only launched in the UK in January 2025, but already sold over 30,100 units in its first year alone.
Jaecoo 7 earned its reputation thanks to its strong resemblance to the Range Rover Velar and relatively low starting price compared to premium SUVs.
However, Jaecoo 7 has lost its title of the most popular car after slipping down the sales charts in April.
The Range Rover lookalike dropped to tenth place with 2,099 sales this month compared to 10,064 registrations in March.
Its sister model, Omoda 5, outsold Jaecoo 7 in April, taking sixth place with 2,308 sales.
While the two models come from separate brands, they sit under the wider Chery umbrella.
Omoda 5 is known as the ultimate family car, combining the latest technology with top safety features.
It comes with a punchy 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine, which takes it from 0 to 62mph in just 7.8 seconds.
Omoda 5 also boasts a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox, which makes it efficient on fuel too.
