The Duchy of Cornwall has joined forces with Regenified, a regenerative agriculture certification and verification company, in a bid to achieve regenerative farming across all 53,000 hectares of the estate by 2035.
The scheme offers Duchy tenants fully funded access to Regenified’s ‘6-3-4’ verification standard, a framework for measuring environmental progress through regenerative practices.
Matthew Morris, rural director for the Duchy of Cornwall, said: “Regenerative farming has an important role to play in building resilient, profitable farm businesses while improving soil health, biodiversity and the long-term condition of the land.”
The framework focuses on soil health and sustainability, helping farmers understand and improve their current practices over time.
The Duchy believes the partnership will support its goal of becoming a “nature-rich and net zero estate.”
This news comes as the Duchy of Cornwall announced that 20pc of land, including areas in Herefordshire, would be sold off.
Alongside the Regenified scheme, the Duchy has also launched its new regenerative Farm Business Tenancy (rFBT), a long-term model designed to support more resilient, productive, and nature-rich farming systems.
Salar Shemirani, CEO of Regenified, said: “Regenerative agriculture is not a fixed destination, but a journey of continuous improvement – and that journey becomes far more powerful when farmers can measure, evidence and build on the progress they are making,” he said.
“For an organisation of the Duchy’s history and stature to back its farmers in this way sends an important signal,” he said.
