Infrastructure and civils specialist Network Plus said the booming water and utilities sectors helped send turnover up to more than £650m last year.

The firm, which was bought by US private equity firm Warburg Pincus earlier this summer from a Canadian pension fund for an undisclosed sum, specialises in regulated sectors like water and energy.

It added: “Regulatory settlements continue to mandate increased investment levels and we are confident that future demand levels will continue to grow.”

It said turnover for the 12 months to 29 March this year was up 15% to £671m with pre-tax profit more than doubling to £55m from £24m last time. It said year-end cash was flat at £36m.

As well as water and energy, the firm also works for major gas, power and transport operators.
