Maharashtra highlighted its use of Artificial Intelligence in agriculture during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

On this occasion, the Agriculture Department released the Agriculture Compendium”, a collection of success stories documenting the transformation achieved in farming through AI implementation. The publication outlines how Maharashtra has integrated advanced technologies into agriculture to make it modern, transparent, and sustainable.

The AI-based system ‘Mahavistar’ is currently benefiting more than 2.2 million farmers. Its voice-first interface and support for local Marathi dialects have made it particularly impactful for rural women farmers, including those who are illiterate.

The Compendium details several AI-enabled initiatives, including portable soil-testing devices such as ‘Vasudha’ and ‘Neopark’, which allow on-field soil analysis with up to 90 percent accuracy. It also highlights satellite-based crop health monitoring and the ‘SatSource’ technology, which generates digital credit scores for farmers and enables access to institutional loans within a single day.

Through these interventions, more than 40,000 small and marginal farmers have received loans exceeding ₹1,700 million, resulting in productivity gains of 20 to 32 percent. The State’s Digital Public Infrastructure model and its approach to integrating climate resilience, satellite data, and sustainable farming practices were appreciated by national and international participants at the summit.

The session underscored Maharashtra’s efforts to deploy AI as a welfare-oriented technology, positioning the State as a leader in technology-driven agricultural development.
