The Aldershot and Farnborough Growth Partnership aims to attract investment and create opportunities across the two towns.

The partnership was convened by MP Alex Baker and Cllr Gareth Williams, leader of Rushmoor Borough Council, and includes representatives from businesses, public sector organisations and education providers.

Ms Baker said: “Aldershot and Farnborough play incredibly important roles in serving the nation.

“These towns are not simply home to the army, they are also home to a huge number of world-class defence and aerospace businesses.

“By bringing business leaders together in a Growth Partnership, we mean to advertise our strengths – particularly our high-tech innovation and manufacturing prowess – and work together to generate new investment and new jobs and opportunities for the local community.”

The group will focus on attracting investment, driving innovation and improving access to higher-quality employment and training.

Steve Wadey, CEO of QinetiQ, welcomed the new partnership. Mr Wadey said: “With our long-standing commitment to the area, we welcome the opportunity to play a leading role in accelerating local economic growth.”

The initiative also aims to support town centre regeneration and housing development.
