Finning UK & Ireland has acquired John F Hunt Power Group, including temporary-power specialist John F Hunt Power and equipment manufacturer Morris Machinery.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
The acquisition does not include John F Hunt Group Ltd, the construction business that moved into employee ownership in October 2024.
John F Hunt Power and Morris Machinery were excluded from the employee ownership trust (EOT) transaction and remained within the separate John F Hunt Power Group.
Despite the separate corporate structures, the Power and Morris businesses continued to use the John F Hunt name and maintained operational links with the wider group.
When the EOT was established, John F Hunt Group said the two businesses would continue to support the employee-owned company through its nationwide offices and logistical services.
John F Hunt Power Group turned over £53m in the year to 31 March 2026, down from £57.9m a year earlier, while pre-tax profit rose from £821,000 to £2.1m. Its average monthly headcount was unchanged at 147.
Finning UK is part of Canadian-owned Finning International Inc, which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The UK company is owned through Finning Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of Finning International.
The UK business said consolidated revenue rose from £634.3m in 2024 to £657.3m in the year to 31 December 2025, while pre-tax profit increased from £26.5m to £28m.
John F Hunt Power Group will now trade as John F Hunt Power Group, a Finning Company.
The company said existing contracts, pricing agreements, account-management teams and day-to-day contacts would remain unchanged during the transition.
John F Hunt Power founder John Hall, who also chairs John F Hunt Group, said the power business began in the 1990s to provide temporary power for tower cranes used during large-panel residential tower-block demolition work. It has since expanded to six depots across the UK.
Managing director David Hunt said joining Finning marked an “important milestone” for the business.
Finning UK & Ireland director of electric power and engineering Mark Albiston said combining the businesses would broaden the range of power solutions available to customers across the UK and Ireland.
