Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 dev says they’ve been ‘replaced by AI’ in shock claim

“[I’m] heartbroken I won’t get to see my friends and colleagues at the office every day.”

We all know that the use of AI in video game development is becoming more and more prevalent, and it looks like the technology might now be having an impact on some developer’s jobs.

That’s according to one former developer of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, the hit medieval RPG from last year. According to a Reddit user that calls themself ‘Max H’, they had worked at Warhorse Studio as a Czech to English translator.

We have verified the user’s identity on LinkedIn, which confirms that the individual worked at Warhorse Studios between July 2022 and March 2026.

“If you’ve ever played KCD2 in English, you’ve quite likely seen my work,” they say.

Although Max H had worked at the company since July 2022, he was apparently told that his position is now ‘obsolete’ following a meeting on March 27, 2026. The employee was reportedly told that the move was ‘in an effort to “make the company more effective” and “save finances”’.

According to the former employee, this is, “in favour of using AI for all translations going forward.

“This came as a huge shock to me, as though the discussion about using AI for translating had frequently come up in the past, something I was always strongly and vocally against, but never to the extent that it might actually cost me my job in the future.”

The former Warhorse Studios employee says that they feel ‘betrayed by the management of the company’. “[I’m] heartbroken I won’t get to see my friends and colleagues at the office every day,” they say.

They also plead: “I want you to know that the growing use of AI greatly affects people in the games industry and many others.”

Warhorse Studios is yet to respond to the former employee’s claims that they were ‘fired’ in favour of using AI for ongoing translation duties.

The use of AI in game development continues to be a hotly contested topic. Last week, Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss came under fire after AI generated artwork was found in the game.

Said artwork has since been removed in the most recent patch.
