Towards Industry 5.0: Human-robot interaction and collaboration

Share

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3, SDG 8, and SDG 9.

Collaborative and adaptive robots are increasingly used in production settings, showcasing the successful integration of advanced technologies such as the real time data capturing, adaptable and reconfigurable systems, and robotics into manufacturing and industrial processes. This revolution is characterised by smart factories where machines are interconnected, capable of exchanging and analysing data, and making real-time decisions to enhance productivity and efficiency. With the emergence of Industry 5.0 values, the focus of collaborative and industrial robots has shifted towards creating a more sustainable and human-centric manufacturing environment, aiming to improve the well-being and safety of workers and implement reduce-recycle-reuse strategy. This shift also brings technical and physiological challenges related to adaptability and the cognition of human-robot collaboration. With this Collection, we aim to support research in industrial robots and human-robot interaction, covering both technical and psychological aspects. We invite original research articles and proposals for reviews, perspectives, and comments in the following areas:

  • Human-Robot Collaboration
  • Human-Robot Interaction
  • Collaborative robots – Cobots
  • Industrial robots
  • Cyber-Physical(-Cognitive) Systems
  • Adaptive workbenches
  • Cognitive ergonomics
  • Safety perception
  • Cognition in human-robot interaction
  • Intelligent/Smart factory
  • Robot Learning
