Anyone who refuses to use the term “super intelligence,” President Donald Trump’s new preferred moniker for AI, is an “enemy” of the White House, Trump said in a Thursday afternoon social media post as he pushes for broader acceptance of “SI.”

Key Facts

In his post, Trump claimed “super intelligence” is “highly accepted” and “more accurate” than AI, warning those who do not use it will be considered “THE ENEMY!”

Across a flurry of Truth Social posts in recent weeks, Trump debated a better name for AI before landing on “super intelligence,” which he formally endorsed in an executive order in late September directing federal departments and agencies to use his preferred term.

Trump’s executive order says advanced AI technology does “much more than imitate or automate discrete aspects of human intelligence,” noting its capabilities “far exceed what was envisioned” when AI was first used.

The executive branch will no longer “acknowledge the usage of ‘Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘AI’ in any applicable setting,” according to the executive order.

Are AI Leaders Embracing “SI”?

Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest person, said over the weekend he would rename his SpaceXAI company to SpaceXSI. “No more AI,” Musk said in a post on X, calling “super intelligence” a better name than AI. In response to a user who asked whether Musk would rename his company, Musk said, “Yes, we will make that change.” In another post, he said “SpaceX is a super intelligence company.” Musk has not offered any additional timeline or details about SpaceXAI’s potential name change. The company’s website and social media profiles still retain the company’s original name as of Thursday. Amazon executive chairman Jeff Bezos appeared to back Trump’s SI push in an interview with Fox News that aired Wednesday evening. “I do like SI because artificial is not a very flattering thing…Nobody wants an artificial sweetener or artificial flavoring. Artificial sort of means fake,” Bezos said.

surprising fact

Demand for website domains ending in “.si,” typically used for Slovenian websites, surged after Trump’s executive order, the BBC reported. Registry SI spokesperson Klara Herman said 44,000 websites ending in “.si” were registered in September, a 2,199% increase from August.

key background

Trump floated the idea of renaming AI last month, saying in a post on Truth Social the term is “inaccurate, and very ineloquent,” claiming “many people” believe this. He posted a poll with three options for a new name—”extreme intelligence,” “superior intelligence” and “supreme intelligence”—which “superior intelligence” won. After cycling through several more polls with additional options, Trump finally landed on “super intelligence,” which beat “superior intelligence” in a head-to-head poll.
