22 UK car parks set close on Friday as NCP plunges into administration | UK | News

A total of 22 NCP car parks will shut within days after the company plunged into administration. The car park operator said the sites are “no longer commercially viable to operate” and will close for good on Friday (March 27).

NCP collapsed into administration earlier this month after years of financial struggles. The firm, which manages 340 car parks across the UK and employs 682 people, had debts £305million greater than the value of its assets last September. It has struggled since the Covid-19 pandemic due to the increase of home working and rise of online shopping. A lack of high street footfall has hit NCP hard, with bosses confirming it had “insufficient cash available to meet its financial obligations and the directors have therefore taken the decision to appoint administrators”.

It has now been confirmed that 22 car parks will close from 11.59pm on Friday. Meanwhile, the remaining 318 will remain open with no further closures identified.

An NCP spokesperson said: “National Car Parks Limited (NCP) – in administration – 22 sites to close on 27 March, while all other sites remain open. On Monday March 16, 2026, Zelf Hussain, Rachael Wilkinson and Toby Banfield of PwC were appointed as Joint Administrators of National Car Parks Limited.

“Following an initial assessment of operations, the joint administrators have identified 22 sites that are commercially unviable and will therefore be closed to customers from 11:59pm on 27 March.

“Regrettably, due to the closure of these sites, 33 employees will be made redundant on 31 March. They will be supported through the statutory redundancy payments process. The other 318 car parks remain open and there are no further sites identified for closure at this time.”

NCP has confirmed that these 22 car parks will close on Friday, March 27.
