A well-known Scottish fish and chip supplier that had operated for almost a quarter of a century has entered administration after experiencing a sustained downturn in business. Based in Forfar, Jon Dow Distribution served customers across seven delivery routes, supplying towns and cities including Inverness, Elgin, Fraserburgh, Aberdeen, Montrose, Dundee, Fife and Perth. The company, owned by Colin Muir and Joan Muir, was incorporated in 2002 as J.D.R.B Ltd and traded under the name Jon Dow Distribution.
The business supplied a wide range of products commonly used by fish and chip shops, including frozen black and white puddings, pies, burgers, fish fillets, ribs and pizzas.
Alongside food products, it also distributed essential catering supplies such as cooking oils, batter mixes and a variety of sauces.
All five employees have been made redundant – which directors say was “with regret”, reports The Courier.
Interpath’s Geoff Jacobs and Alistair McAlinden were appointed joint liquidators on October 26 and will now oversee the winding up of the business. Their responsibilities include marketing the company’s assets for sale, among them four delivery vehicles.
Employees who have been made redundant are also being assisted with claims through the UK Government’s insolvency support scheme.
A spokesperson for Interpath confirmed that workers who have been made redundant are being helped by the joint liquidators with applications to the UK Government’s insolvency service.
The spokesperson also said that creditors owed money by the collapsed business will be contacted by Interpath over the coming weeks regarding the liquidation process.
