Independent car dealer, MotorTrust UK, took over the Bury town centre site on Derby Way in March last year.
The company then submitted plans to convert the former Winfields site in Haslingden into a vehicle sales and display centre earlier this year after purchasing the property.
Winfields Outdoors entered into administration last April, and the outdoor clothing and equipment retail chain closed its stores in Chester, Redditch, Leeds, Hull, Keswick and Swadlincote last year.
MotorTrust UK closed down its Bury showroom in early April 2026 and officially opened at the new 13‑acre Haslingden site on Wednesday morning (April 8), giving the business even more capacity.
The company have also committed to allowing the popular car boot sale to return at the site on a seasonal basis.
MotorTrust UK says it is “proud to open the former Winfield’s site”, describing the location as an “iconic” site that is now being given a full revamp.
The family-run group also has other sites in Garstang and Lancaster.
There are almost 1,000 used vehicles currently on the Haslingden forecourt, with plans in place to increase capacity to more than 1,800 in the near future; a move which bosses say would rank it among the largest independent car dealership sites in the UK and significantly expand the former operation in Bury.
A spokesperson for the company said: “MotorTrust UK are proud to open the former Winfield’s site as MotorTrust UK Haslingden.
“The site currently holds 999 quality used vehicles with plans to expand the site to over 1,800 vehicles in the near future. This will make MotorTrust UK Haslingden one of the largest independent sites in the UK.
“We have brought new business to Haslingden and the surrounding areas by using local businesses like workshops, valet centres and local amenities and we have also created job opportunities in the area with our growth.”
They also added that the move from Bury to Haslingden took place “because the new site is owned by us and not leased”.
