A UK car garage has become the latest motoring firm to go into administration in the latest blow for the industry. According to the London Gazette, UK Truck and Plant Group Limited, which specialises in the repair and maintenance of commercial fleet vehicles, had administrators appointed on April 9. The news was published in the London Gazette on April 15.
The London Gazette revealed that JT Maxwell Limited has been appointed as the administrator. There has been no update so far on the business’s future or whether any jobs could be affected by the news. The business, located on Ampthill Road in Bedford, opened back in 2018 and has been in business for just over eight years.
The business is a Fiat Professional authorised service centre and is said to specialise in everything from HGVS MOT testing to fault diagnosis and repair of plant machinery. The site offers over seven acres of truck parking and storage, and the brand claims to work on everything from the smallest company cars to excavators and tractors.
The company said the team consists of fully qualified DVSA-approved HGV mechanics, something not available at many other locations. UK Truck and Plant Limited offers a range of services, including everything from breakdown recovery to vehicle remapping.
Motorists can also secure crucial work such as gearbox repairs, emissions tests and wheel alignment checks. The business has picked up a string of awards in recent years, picking up the prize for SME News’ Best Commercial Fleet Support Company in the East of England in 2024.
They also secured an award from the Institute of the Motor Industry in 2023 for environmental, sustainability and green innovation.
It’s another major blow to the motor trade, which has suffered a series of closures so far in 2026.
