Small Business Saturday UK roadshow visits Salisbury

A visiting roadshow highlighted their stories and successes during a stop in Salisbury, as part of the nationwide Small Business Saturday campaign.

The event is part of a UK-wide tour leading up to Small Business Saturday on December 6.

It featured “behind the scenes” visits to independent businesses in Salisbury, showcasing their contributions to the local economy and their ambitions for the future.

Matthew Thorne, director at Tinga, an independent Mexican bar and restaurant, welcomed the roadshow.

Mr Thorne said: “Initiatives like Small Business Saturday really help small independent businesses like us put us on the map, allowing us the opportunity to reach far more people than we normally do.”

Supported by BT, the Small Business Saturday roadshow toured more than 20 towns and cities across the UK throughout November.

It offers free online support for small business owners while promoting local businesses on social media.

Other Salisbury businesses featured during the visit included Tribbeck and Son, a family-owned jewellers founded in 1905, and Redmill Art, where mixed media artist Samantha Redmill showcased her work.

Muse Hairdressing, described as Salisbury’s greenest salon, was also included.

Owner Lois spoke about the salon’s commitment to sustainability and plans to expand into its upstairs space.

Michelle Ovens CBE, director of Small Business Saturday UK, said: “It’s incredible to have the opportunity to visit Salisbury and hear directly from local entrepreneurs about their passion, innovation, and plans for growth.

“This year we’re highlighting the nation’s favourite businesses, which are the lifeblood of local communities, and it’s fantastic to see the support and enthusiasm they receive during the campaign.”

The campaign is also offering a month of free online business support, including webinars and mentoring for entrepreneurs across the UK.
