JAECOO, a rising car brand that’s become a hit with Brit drivers, has launched a UK recall affecting thousands of its Jaecoo 7 SUVs.
The issue is reportedly related to an electrical fault linked to the motor’s Electronic Control Unit, or ECU.
According to Auto Express, the issue centres on a wiring harness clip associated with the ECU that, in some cars, has not been fitted correctly.
As highlighted via the European Union’s Safety Gate website, this can trigger engine warning lights and, more seriously, may cause the vehicle to stall unexpectedly while driving.
The recall is expected to involve up to around 7,500 Jaecoo 7s built between April and December 2025 – around a quarter of the brand’s UK sales from the previous year.
Jaecoo has said the problem is limited to the 1.6-litre TGi petrol version, meaning the Jaecoo 7 plug-in hybrid is not included.
It’s worth noting that the Omoda 5, despite sharing the same powertrain, is not currently subject to a recall for this particular fault.
Jaecoo has stated that owners will be contacted about the recall through appropriate communication channels and will offer inspections and repairs at no cost to customers.
Importantly, Jaecoo has stressed that this is not a stop-drive recall, meaning owners do not need to stop using their cars immediately and can continue driving while awaiting the fix.
The manufacturer has also stated that changes have been made to the global production process to prevent the problem from recurring.
The brand has quickly achieved strong sales performances in the UK, with the Jaecoo 7 a hit thanks to its Range Rover looks and tech-heavy interior, all at a bargain price.
Jaecoo was named CarWow’s brand of the year, while the Jaecoo 7 stunned industry experts when it reached second place on the car sales charts in January this year.
