The company employed around 135 people across 11 UK branches, according to Business Sale Report, all supporting more than 20,000 customers across a wide range of industries.

United Tooling Solutions Limited enters administration

United Tooling Solutions had faced a period of “challenging trading” and liquidity issues in recent months, Business Sale Report continued.

Despite efforts by the management team, they were unable to secure the funding needed to continue operating.

The company has now fallen into administration, with Kristopher Aspin of Ernst & Young LLP appointed administrator on June 18, The Gazette reports.

United Tooling Solutions has now “largely ceased to trade”, with 75 staff members being made redundant.

Some staff have been retained to help administrators with the process.

Administrators are now exploring ways to realise value from their assets.

Group accounts for the year ending December 31, 2024, show United Tooling Solutions reported a turnover of £56.2 million, up from £47.3 million the previous year, according to Business Sale Report.

However, operating losses rose sharply to nearly £3.3 million, up from just over £355,000 in 2023.

Pre-tax losses also increased from £11.5 million to £15.8 million.

Directors blamed the collapse on several factors, including the collapse of parent company Troy (UK) Limited in October 2024.

In their year-end report, they said this event and subsequent supply chain restrictions caused “a large-scale adverse impact to revenue and profitable returns” in the final quarter of 2024.

It has been a tough year for the UK high street, with several other retailers entering administration or liquidation and others announcing widespread store closures.

Major high street brands LK Bennett, Claire’s, and Quiz have been forced to close all their remaining stores after falling into administration.

UK fashion retailer Leading Labels is also set to close its remaining 15 stores after falling into liquidation.

TG Jones will also be closing 150 stores across the UK as part of a “restructuring” plan approved by the High Court on Wednesday (July 1).

It’s also been reported that Morrisons is looking to sell some of its in-store pharmacies as it continues to cut costs.

It hasn’t all been bad news for the UK high street, with several major brands announcing new store openings for 2026, including Aldi, M&S, and Superdrug.

Plus-size clothing brand Evans also returned to the UK high street recently after closing all its stores and concessions in December 2020.
