Morrisons is making a major change across hundreds of branches in England and Wales. Delivery platform, Snappy Shopper, and Morrisons Daily announced an expansion of their partnership on Monday (July 27).
The latest phase of a deal between the grocery giant and deliveries app was hailed as a “significant milestone” by both firms. It means customers can shop for items from across Morrisons Daily’s range through Snappy Shopper’s app. This includes everyday essentials, Morrisons Savers products, own-brand lines and multibuy promotions.
Mike Callachan, Snappy Shopper’s chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to continue expanding our partnership with Morrisons Daily as we roll out across hundreds of stores throughout its convenience estate.
“The expansion reflects the strong performance of the partnership to date and our shared ambition to make fast, reliable grocery delivery available to even more customers.”
He added that by combining Morrisons Daily’s “trusted convenience offering” with Snappy Shopper’s technology, the businesses are helping retailers grow online while providing shoppers with greater choice and convenience.
Orders of more than £35 qualify for free delivery thanks to the rollout. Deliveries will continue to be sorted by Nash, with JetGo serving as the preferred last-mile delivery partner.
Morrisons and Snappy Shopper said this would ensure a “seamless and reliable” delivery experience for shoppers.
Snappy Shopper suggested its link up with Morrison Daily has been a success so far, with an average order of £31 showing “growing demand” for convenient online grocery shopping.
The expansion forms the latest phase in digital growth plans for Morrisons Daily, with Snappy Shopper’s tech meaning the grocer can also meet orders made through the Foodhub platform.
This will widen the retail giant’s reach and offer customers more ways to shop, according to Snappy Shopper.
Morrisons in June revealed a slowdown in sales growth for the quarter in the face of “highly competitive” market conditions.
The supermarket group revealed total sales grew by 1.7% to £4billion over the 13 weeks to April 26. It compared with a 2.6% increase in the previous quarter.
Cost reduction efforts saw the company unveil plans in May to shut about 100 lossmaking convenience stores. In an update, the retailer said it still opened 30 new Morrisons Daily franchise stores in the quarter and plans to open hundreds more in the years ahead
On its latest announcement, Charlotte Exell, group online director at Morrisons, said: “We’re pleased to expand our Snappy Shopper partnership across our Morrisons Daily stores, making it even easier for customers to shop with us.
“This rollout gives households in England and Wales even more convenient ways to get fresh food and groceries from Morrisons delivered straight to their door.”
